(CNA Reporter Chang Jung-hsiang Tainan, June 30) The regular tourist ferry service between Tainan's Anping and Penghu's Magong (An-Ma Line) officially commenced operations today, June 30, 2026. This service will operate exclusively during the summer months, from June 30 to August. Ferries will depart from Anping Commercial Port on Tuesdays and Fridays, with a round trip to Penghu Magong Commercial Port, taking approximately 2.5 hours one way.
The Anping-Magong tourist ferry route departs Tainan Anping at 8 AM and returns from Penghu Magong at 2 PM. The route is timed to coincide with two major summer events: the Penghu International Maritime Fireworks Festival and the Tainan General Roar Music Festival. This aims to enhance transportation convenience between Tainan Anping and Penghu Magong, while also injecting strong momentum into island-hopping tours across the blue ocean.
The Tainan City Government stated that the An-Ma Line connects Tainan and Penghu, attracting domestic and international travelers to experience the charm of the ocean. The city government will also continue to promote special routes from Tainan's General Fishing Port to Penghu's Southern Four Islands and Suogang, creating a unique golden maritime tourism route.
The city government explained that the launch of the Anping-Magong dual-city route creates a new type of summer travel experience. Passengers can enjoy spectacular views of the Taiwan Strait along the way, making it very convenient for short weekend trips or in-depth island tours. (Editor: Lee Hsi-chang) 20260630
