(CNA Taipei, June 30) Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters Taiwanese pitcher Sun Yi-Lei, who was sent down to the minor league on June 21, made a starting appearance today in the minor league. He pitched 6 innings, allowing 2 runs for a quality start. The Fighters ultimately defeated the Rakuten Golden Eagles 5-2, with Sun Yi-Lei earning the win.

Sun Yi-Lei's previous appearance was a starting role in the major league on June 20, where he pitched 4 innings, gave up 5 runs (4 earned runs), and took the loss. He was demoted to the minor league the following day. In today's minor league start against the Rakuten Golden Eagles, he retired the first three batters in the top of the 1st inning. In the 2nd inning, the leadoff batter, Otsubo Shion, hit a double. After one out, Gina Tsubasa hit a single, allowing one run.

In the top of the 3rd inning, Sun Yi-Lei first gave up a hit to Tanaka Takaya. After one out, he allowed two consecutive hits, giving up another run, but then stabilized, striking out two batters in a row and preventing the scoring crisis from escalating.

In the top of the 4th inning, Sun Yi-Lei walked the leadoff batter, but then induced Ito Hiroyuki to hit a ground ball towards shortstop for a double play, followed by a strikeout to freeze the opponent's offense. In the top of the 5th inning, the Eagles batters went down in order. He continued to pitch in the top of the 6th inning. Although he allowed two hits in the inning, he did not give up any runs.

The Fighters trailed 0-2 after the first 3 innings. In the bottom of the 4th, Arisono Naoki's 2-run homer tied the score. In the bottom of the 5th, Hamada Taiki hit a go-ahead solo home run. Sakaguchi Raku's double extended the rally. After one out, Asama Daiki's triple added an insurance run for the team. In the bottom of the 6th, the Fighters scored their fifth run on a timely hit by Hamada Taiki.

Sun Yi-Lei threw a total of 90 pitches over 6 innings today, giving up 7 hits, striking out 9 batters, issuing 1 walk, and allowing 2 earned runs. His fastest pitch was 151 km/h.
