(CNA, Taipei, July 1) The Labor Pension Fund has achieved a total return of NT$2.1252 trillion as of May this year, setting a new record. The Bureau of Labor Funds stated that four months in the first half of this year saw the top four highest returns in history. As for June, the stock market appears to be taking a break, with an expected flat performance.

The Bureau of Labor Funds under the Ministry of Labor announced the latest performance of the labor pension fund today. The single-month return for May was NT$586 billion. As of the end of May this year, the total return for the Labor Pension Fund was NT$2.1252 trillion, with a yield of 27.7%.

Liu Li-ru, deputy director-general of the Bureau of Labor Funds, stated that while financial markets have been volatile from January to May, the fund has pursued stable performance. In terms of long-term results, the average annual returns for the Labor Pension Fund and the National Pension Insurance Fund over the past 10 years have been 12.24% and 12.33% respectively. Over the past 5 years, the average returns have been 15.94% and 15.67% respectively, indicating consistently stable investment performance.

Liu Li-ru pointed out that looking back at the market performance in May, corporate profits were stable, and investment momentum in the technology sector continued to drive market funds. The economic fundamentals driven by corporate profits were strong. Although short-term fluctuations are inevitable, long-term investments will be adjusted dynamically.

Liu Li-ru also reviewed the stock market's performance this year, noting that it has been good. In terms of the Taiwan stock market, the increase from January to May this year was 54.45%, which is double the 25.70% increase for the entire previous year.

Regarding the returns of the Labor Pension Fund, Liu Li-ru said that the returns in January, February, April, and May of this year were precisely the top four highest returns in the history of the Labor Pension Fund. April had the highest return at NT$1.1047 trillion, followed by May at NT$586 billion, February at NT$418.4 billion, and January at NT$394.6 billion.

Looking ahead, Liu Li-ru stated that observing the stock market in June, international stock markets have fallen, with only the Taiwan stock market experiencing a slight increase. Based on relevant indicators, the single month of June suggests a market pause. In terms of fund performance, it is expected to be flat, but the accumulated returns from January to May can still be maintained. (Editor: Li Shu-hua) 1150701
