US-Iran War Key News
(CNA, Andrews Air Force Base, USA, July 1, Combined Foreign News) U.S. President Donald Trump today praised the progress of indirect talks between the United States and Iran, calling the talks held in Doha, the capital of Qatar, "very well."
According to Agence France-Presse, Trump (Donald Trump), as he prepared to board a new Air Force One aircraft gifted by Qatar to travel to North Dakota, told reporters: "As far as things are going, Iran's de-nuclearization is going well. Their talks are going very well, and we'll see."
"We hit them very hard before... but now they are interacting well," Trump said, referring to the Doha talks aimed at easing tensions after recent exchanges of fire between the US and Iran.
According to Reuters, a source involved in the negotiations and an Iranian official previously revealed that the United States and Iran held technical-level talks in Doha today, with both sides attempting to reach consensus on shipping passage through the Strait of Hormuz and ensuring a lasting ceasefire.
Sources indicated that Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, and envoy Steve Witkoff met with the Prime Minister of Qatar, who is mediating along with Pakistan, to pave the way for subsequent negotiations, but the two will not attend the formal talks. (Compiled by Hong Pei-ying) 1150701
