(CNA, Reporter Su Mu-chun, Taichung, July 1) With the new workplace bullying prevention system taking effect in July, a psychiatrist reminds office workers that regardless of whether the pressure stems from job content, management style, or the work environment, they should pay attention to their mental health and learn to "slack off" appropriately. Only by gently supporting themselves first can they navigate the workplace steadily.

Kuang Tien General Hospital issued a press release today stating that with the new workplace bullying prevention system launching in July, society is once again focusing on the impact of the work environment on mental health.

Yang Meng-fan, a psychiatrist at Kuang Tien Hospital, pointed out that prolonged exposure to a high-pressure culture with power imbalances can lead individuals to unconsciously internalize environmental oppression as self-blame, even losing the ability to speak up for themselves. These workers who silently endure and attribute everything to themselves are precisely the group most in need of gentle support.

The new system grants workers the right to directly appeal to local authorities for bullying cases involving the highest responsible person in a business unit. Yang Meng-fan believes this change not only broadens the channels for appeals but also sends an important signal to workers: when facing unreasonable treatment, they are not fighting alone, nor are they without options.

Yang Meng-fan reminds everyone that regardless of whether the pressure comes from job content, management style, or the work environment, they should pay attention to whether their mental health has been affected. Frequent insomnia, anxiety, difficulty concentrating, or even being unable to truly relax during holidays are all signs that the body and mind may be overloaded. If not addressed promptly, this could further develop into adjustment disorder, depression, or anxiety disorder.

He pointed out that modern office workers should all learn to "slack off" appropriately. This is not about passive avoidance but about intentionally creating space for the mind and body, establishing boundaries between work and personal life, and understanding that work is merely a prop on the stage of life, not the entire script of one's existence.
