(Central News Agency, Taipei, July 1) Telecom operator Far EasTone's cooperation with Amazon Leo, Amazon's (Amazon) low-orbit satellite network service, has seen substantial progress. Far EasTone CEO Jing Qi revealed in an interview today that the Amazon Leo-related team has arrived in Taiwan and held a project kickoff meeting with Far EasTone. The cooperation is currently in the initial technical integration phase, with a series of workshops scheduled for in-depth exchange.
Far EasTone announced in May this year that it had signed a cooperation agreement to become an authorized distributor for Amazon Leo in Taiwan. Jing Qi was interviewed by the media this afternoon at the "Mobile Real-Name Authentication Creates a Digital Taiwan Strategic Cooperation Launch Event."
When asked about the progress of the cooperation with Amazon Leo, Jing Qi said that foreign companies have always been very rigorous, with established strict designs and management mechanisms for every step. The Service Plan currently provided by Amazon to Far EasTone is essentially a prototype (Bare Bone), which relies on Far EasTone's team's understanding of the Taiwanese market to combine local needs and transform them into a comprehensive solution.
Jing Qi explained that, just as Far EasTone tailors information and communication solutions for enterprise clients, Far EasTone's role is to transform Amazon's low-orbit satellite service into a comprehensive solution that meets the needs of the Taiwanese market, and to further promote and sell it to government agencies, enterprise users, and end consumers. Far EasTone is also planning different product solutions for various future major application scenarios.
Regarding external concerns about whether the two parties will accelerate the timeline, Jing Qi stated that since both parties have signed the contract, the subsequent steps will be to proceed step by step and promote implementation through multiple channels. Low-orbit satellite services involve not only the satellites themselves but also the construction of ground stations (Gateways), radio frequencies, and other infrastructure. All progress is interconnected. (Editor: Lin Chia-hsien) 1150701
