Kaohsiung Launches Child-Rearing Rent Subsidy 3.0, Up to NT$36,000 Annually

(Central News Agency, Kaohsiung, July 1) To alleviate the rental burden for families with children aged 12 and under, the Kaohsiung City Government has launched the Child-Rearing Rent Subsidy 3.0 program this year. The subsidy amount will be increased by 50% for families with two children and by 100% for families with three or more children, with a maximum annual payout of NT$36,000. Applications open today.

The Kaohsiung City Government's Urban Development Bureau stated in a press release today that for households approved for the central government's NT$30 billion expanded rent subsidy and Kaohsiung City's additional rent subsidy, as well as residents of public housing built by the city government, families with children aged 12 and under will receive an additional one-time rent subsidy.

Specifically, for the high-cost childcare period of "0 to 2 years old," under the previous 2.0 version, families with two children could receive NT$12,000 annually, and families with three children could receive NT$18,000. Now, in the 3.0 version, families with two children will receive an additional 50%, increasing the annual subsidy to NT$18,000; families with three or more children will receive NT$36,000 annually.

For the "3 to 12 years old" preschool or elementary school stage, the subsidy for families with two children will increase from the original NT$8,000 to NT$12,000; for families with three or more children, it will increase from NT$12,000 to NT$24,000. Furthermore, each child aged 12 and under registered in Kaohsiung will receive an additional NT$2,000 annually.

The Kaohsiung City Urban Development Bureau stated that for simplification and convenience, individuals already receiving the Ministry of Interior's NT$30 billion central expanded rent subsidy and Kaohsiung City's additional rent subsidy program do not need to resubmit application materials. After the Urban Development Bureau confirms eligibility, they will proactively send out a confirmation letter of intent to apply. Recipients should reply with their intent to apply, either online or in paper form, within three weeks to quickly complete the application. Disbursements are expected to be made after the Urban Development Bureau issues the approval letter.

Additionally, for residents of public housing built by the Kaohsiung City Government and those built by the National Housing and Urban Development Administration in Kaohsiung, announcements and application forms will be posted at each public housing complex starting today. Residents only need to fill out the application form and attach relevant documents such as the public housing lease agreement, bank account information, and household registration. Applications can be submitted by mail or in person at the Urban Development Bureau's rent subsidy office. The application period ends at 5:00 PM on December 31st of this year.
