(CNA, Tainan, July 2) Facilities along Jiali District's Park Avenue in Tainan City were severely damaged during Typhoon Daanas last year. The central government has approved post-disaster reconstruction funds, integrated with the "Urban Facade and Creative Environment Construction Plan," to improve the area. The project aims to create a green water living corridor by integrating spaces, with construction expected to be completed next year.
DPP Legislator Kuo Kuo-wen, along with representatives from the Ministry of the Interior's National Land Management Administration, Ministry of Finance's National Property Administration, Ministry of Economic Affairs' Water Resources Agency, and relevant bureaus of the Tainan City Government, inspected the improvements to Jiali Park Avenue, the Jiali urban plan, and the revitalization of state-owned land in the Fotian section today, reviewing the progress of various projects.
Kuo Kuo-wen stated that after the park avenue facilities were damaged by Typhoon Daanas last year, he immediately assisted the local area in securing NT$20.25 million in post-disaster reconstruction funds from the central government. Construction is expected to commence immediately after the bidding process is completed in July, restoring a high-quality recreational space as soon as possible.
The National Land Management Administration of the Ministry of the Interior provided data indicating that through Kuo Kuo-wen's continuous coordination and advocacy, the "Urban Facade and Creative Environment Construction Plan" has been officially approved with NT$70 million in funding. Combined with the post-disaster reconstruction funds, the project will integrate Park Avenue, the Xiaolong branch of the Chianan Canal, the canal towpath, pedestrian spaces, and green belt systems to create a green water living corridor that offers landscape, ecological, recreational, and slow-traffic functions. Both projects are scheduled for completion next year.
Kuo Kuo-wen emphasized that post-disaster reconstruction should not merely be about repairs but should seize the opportunity for comprehensive improvement. He hopes that by integrating Park Avenue, the canal, and the green belt system, the project will not only enhance the landscape but also create a high-quality public space, enabling Jiali Park Avenue to move beyond disaster recovery towards urban upgrading and improving the overall quality of life in Jiali.
He added that discussions were held with local representatives today regarding the planning direction. In addition to improving existing paths and landscapes, the project will also incorporate needs such as adding park restrooms, renovating pavilions, strengthening infrastructure, and planning for simple water play facilities and cultural and artistic activity spaces. Public hearings will be held subsequently to gather local opinions, ensuring the construction aligns with residents' expectations. (Editor: Yang Sheng-ru) 1150702
