(Central News Agency, reporter Wu Ruiqi, Taoyuan, July 2) A senior elementary school student in Taoyuan City was recently surrounded and beaten by multiple junior high school students and forced to kneel. The assault was uploaded online, sparking heated discussion. The Taoyuan City Education Bureau stated today that it has initiated a school safety report and investigation procedure, and has requested the video be taken down as soon as possible to prevent secondary harm.

The Taoyuan City Government Education Bureau stated that preliminary understanding indicates the incident occurred around 4:30 PM on June 29th. A student transitioning from fifth to sixth grade at an elementary school was bullied by 4 students from 2 nearby junior high schools in an off-campus parking lot. It is suspected that the students met to resolve a previous dispute, which failed. The junior high students punched the victim, pulled his hair, chased and beat him, and demanded he kneel. The relevant footage was recorded by students present and uploaded to Threads, drawing social media attention.

The Education Bureau stated that upon receiving the report, the relevant schools immediately initiated a school safety report and incident clarification procedure. They will continue to interview relevant personnel and collect evidence based on the students' identities, level of involvement, and the incident's progression. Subsequently, investigations, counseling, and necessary actions will be taken according to regulations. Simultaneously, they will strengthen students' legal education, internet ethics, human rights concepts, and conflict resolution education to maintain student safety and campus order.

The Education Bureau said that the investigation suggests the person who filmed and uploaded the video is a graduating student from another elementary school. The school has contacted the student and parents. The Education Bureau also requested the video be taken down as soon as possible to prevent its continued dissemination and to avoid causing secondary harm to the victimized student.
