Escaped Foreign Worker Drowns in Su'ao Construction Site Reservoir, Cause of Death Under Investigation

(Central News Agency, reporter Shen Ru-feng, Yilan County, July 2) An escaped foreign worker in Su'ao, Yilan County, accidentally drowned in a construction site reservoir today. The cause of death is still under investigation; the County Government Labor Affairs Department will report to the Ministry of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration to pursue the employer's relevant responsibilities.

It is rumored that the escaped foreign worker was hiding in the construction site reservoir to evade police patrols and accidentally drowned; however, Su'ao police clarified that patrol officers were on duty nearby at 10 a.m. today and the case was only reported at 1 p.m.

The County Government Labor Affairs Department stated that the deceased was an escaped foreign worker. They will report to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration to assist in clarifying the cause of death and to pursue relevant responsibilities from the employer.
