(CNA reporter Huang Hsu-sheng, New Taipei, July 2) New Taipei Metro Corporation stated that the signal system on the San-Ying Line experienced an alert this afternoon. Trains were temporarily stopped, and headways were extended. Upon inspection, it is suspected that a lightning strike caused an anomaly in the backup signal module. After updating components, normal operations resumed around 5 PM.

New Taipei Metro Corporation issued a text message stating that at 4:32 PM today (2nd), the San-Ying Line experienced an alert in its signal system. All trains on the main line were temporarily stopped and then proceeded slowly to the stations, causing extended headways.

New Taipei Metro Corporation stated that normal operations and headway adjustments were restored at 5:09 PM. Maintenance personnel inspected the equipment and preliminarily determined that a lightning strike caused an anomaly in the backup signal module. The system activated its protection mechanism, leading to the temporary stop of trains between stations. After updating components, the signal system returned to normal. All trains on the line resumed normal service.

The New Taipei Metro San-Ying Line opened on June 30th. New Taipei Metro Corporation stated that since the free trial operation began, it has attracted a large number of visitors. In response to the large-scale opening celebration event organized by the New Taipei City Government next to the New Taipei City Art Museum, which is expected to draw large crowds, the operating hours for LB08 Yingge Station will be specially extended to 10 PM on July 4th and 5th. For other stations on the San-Ying Line, the original trial operation hours until 8 PM will remain in effect. (Editor: Chen Ching-fang) 1150702
