(Jerusalem, July 3, CNA, Foreign News) The Prime Minister's Office of Israel stated that Prime Minister Netanyahu and US President Trump spoke by phone today and agreed to meet in the United States in the near future. The conversation took place after a joint US-Israel attack on Iran, and amid reports of disagreements between the two leaders regarding efforts to end the war.
According to AFP, a statement from Netanyahu's (Benjamin Netanyahu) office said, "The Prime Minister stated during the call that the United States is the guarantor of global freedom, and Israel highly values the close partnership between the two countries... The Prime Minister and President Trump agreed to meet in the United States in the near future."
According to the statement, Netanyahu also congratulated Trump on the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States during the call.
The United States has always been Israel's most important ally, but Trump has publicly criticized Netanyahu in recent weeks because the war between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon threatens peace talks with Iran. (Compiled by: Xu Ruicheng) 1150704
