Ho Chih-jen and Partner Defeat 10th Seeds to Reach Wimbledon Men's Doubles Round of 16

(CNA Taipei, July 4) In the Wimbledon Championships held in the United Kingdom, Taiwan's "Doubles Ace" Ho Chih-jen, alongside his German partner Jeben, defeated the 10th-seeded French duo in the men's doubles second round today with a score of 7-5, 7-6 (7-4), successfully advancing to the round of 16.

Ho Chih-jen, 26, ranked 72nd in the world in doubles, is partnering with German player Hendrik Jebens at this Wimbledon. After an easy win in the first round of the men's doubles, the pair today defeated the 10th-seeded French duo Theo Arribage and Albano Olivetti, securing their ticket to the Wimbledon men's doubles round of 16.

Facing the in-form French pair, Ho Chih-jen and Jebens were locked in a back-and-forth battle after the start of the first set. They even managed to save a set point, bringing the score to 5-5 after 10 games. The Taiwanese-German team seized a break point opportunity in the 11th game and then held their serve to take the first set 7-5.

With a commanding lead, Ho Chih-jen and Jebens remained in a tight contest with their opponents in the second set. With both pairs managing to hold their serves, the match went into a tie-break to decide the winner. The Taiwanese-German team once again delivered a stellar performance at a crucial moment, breaking their opponents' serve twice early on to secure the victory with a 7-6 (7-4) score.

Notably, after winning their first-round match at Wimbledon, Ho Chih-jen "unlocked" a victory record in all four Grand Slam tournaments, becoming the first Taiwanese player after the renowned Lu Yen-hsun to do so. With the Taiwanese-German team passing the second-round test at Wimbledon, Ho Chih-jen becomes the first Taiwanese male player to reach the Wimbledon doubles round of 16 since Lu Yen-hsun in 2010.
