(CNA reporter Chen Chih-chung Taipei, July 4) The 2026 National Jamboree for Elementary and Middle School Scouts is taking place from July 3rd to 6th, with over 1,000 scouts gathering at New Taipei City's Longmen Campsite. The event activities cover ceremonies, scout skills, tracking and orienteering, exploration experiences, and hands-on making, with a focus on sustainable development.

The Ministry of Education issued a press release today stating that this year's Scout Jamboree attracted 590 scouts and 570 cub scouts from all over the country, and mobilized as many as 300 staff members to provide support.

The jamboree's theme is "Childlike Dreams, Sustainable Pioneers," and its visual design incorporates New Taipei City's "sky lantern imagery," symbolizing scout partners nationwide lighting up hope, building dreams together, and forging ahead on the path of sustainable development.

New Taipei City Education Bureau Director Chang Ming-wen pointed out that the jamboree will be centered on safety, professionalism, and innovation, fully integrating the Longmen Campsite, the natural and cultural resources of the Northeast Coast, and the energy of participating schools to provide a learning environment that is educational, challenging, and features local characteristics, allowing students to deepen their scout spirit through close contact with nature and teamwork.

The Ministry of Education hopes that through the jamboree, the influence of scout education will continue to expand, promoting the balanced development of students in the five aspects of education, cultivating autonomous action and social participation skills in real-world scenarios, and enabling them to become "Sustainable Pioneers" and global citizens with the ability to cooperate and solve problems.
