(CNA Taipei, July 4) The Henan Provincial Government of China has summoned the Zhengzhou Municipal Government for a safety production talk, demanding that Zhengzhou City investigate major accident hazards and establish a solid safety baseline.

According to reports from Chinese state media such as Global Times, in accordance with relevant regulations including "Several Systems to Strengthen the Implementation of Production Safety Responsibilities," the Henan Provincial Government summoned the Zhengzhou Municipal Government for a safety production talk on June 30.

The official announcement did not explicitly state which production safety accidents were involved in this meeting. However, according to public reports, on April 28 this year, a major scalding accident occurred at Zhengzhou Xinguang Refractory Materials Co., Ltd. in Songzhai Village, Liuzhai Town, Xinmi City, Zhengzhou City, resulting in 3 deaths and 1 injury.

According to reports, Zhang Min, a member of the Standing Committee of the Henan Provincial Party Committee and Executive Vice Governor, pointed out at the meeting that Zhengzhou City has experienced frequent production safety accidents recently, exposing prominent problems such as weak safety awareness, lax thinking, imprecise work, and inadequate investigation, rectification, and lesson learning.

Zhang Min demanded that the Zhengzhou Municipal Government remain highly vigilant, shoulder the political responsibility for production safety, and make every effort to overcome work bottlenecks and plug regulatory loopholes to reverse the passive and backward situation in production safety.

Zhang Min also stated that Zhengzhou City should deepen the investigation of hidden dangers, identify and rectify major accident hazards, and strengthen regulatory enforcement; it should effectively implement the responsibilities of party and government leaders, industry authorities, supervisory departments, and enterprises, focusing on the "critical few," and improve production safety capabilities and management levels to comprehensively build a solid safety baseline.

During the meeting, the Henan Provincial Safety Committee Office reported on the relevant situation, and Zhengzhou City, Xinmi City, High-tech Zone, Xingyang City, and Gongyi City made statements. (Editor: Lu Jia-rong / He Hong-ru) 1150704)
