Taipei 101 Lights Up in Red, White, and Blue to Celebrate 250th Anniversary of U.S. Independence

(CNA Taipei, July 4) The United States celebrated the 250th anniversary of its independence today. The American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) announced in the evening that Taiwan also participated in the "Freedom 250 Global Lighting Event." Taipei 101 lit up with brilliant red, white, and blue lights in the evening, with the words "U.S.-Taiwan Friendship Forever" flashing on its exterior, a reflection of the enduring friendship between the people of the United States and Taiwan.

The American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) posted on Facebook, saying, "Tonight, at this very moment, Taipei 101 is shining with brilliant red, white, and blue lights, paying tribute to the ideals of freedom that have guided us for 250 years. In the night sky, the words 'U.S.-Taiwan Friendship Forever' flashing on the exterior of Taipei 101 not only capture the attention of countless people but also serve as a testament to the enduring friendship between the people of the United States and Taiwan."

AIT stated that on this historically significant milestone night, Taiwan joined the "Freedom 250 Global Lighting Event," shining alongside world-famous landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France, the Brandenburg Gate in Germany, and the N Seoul Tower in Seoul, South Korea.

In addition, AIT shared a congratulatory video from President Lai Ching-te on Facebook, thanking the President for his well wishes on the 250th anniversary of American Independence Day, demonstrating the long-standing and strong friendship between the U.S. and Taiwan.
