(CNA Reporter Yang Sze-jui Tainan, July 6) The 2026 Chi Mei Music Festival will be held in September at the Chi Mei Museum and the National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying), under the theme "Brilliant Depths: Brahms and His Era." The festival will feature one special lecture and five concerts, with a total of 13 cherished master violins from the Chi Mei collection making an appearance.

The Chi Mei Museum stated in a press release today that this year's Chi Mei Music Festival focuses on the titan of the Romantic era, Johannes Brahms (1833-1897). His music, within a rigorous structure, holds fervent emotion, possessing both intellect and sensibility, distilling the most profound and moving notes.

The Chi Mei Museum noted that the concert repertoire will not only showcase Brahms's style across different periods from his youth to his later years but also connect a brilliant musical lineage, including his inspiration Schubert, his contemporaries and rivals Liszt and Wagner, his peers Robert Schumann and Clara Schumann, and his protégé Dvořák.

The Chi Mei Museum highlighted that one of the festival's most representative highlights is the collection of master violins. A total of 13 master violins have been selected for the concert series, covering important works from the Stradivari, Guarneri, and German/Austrian violin-making traditions. This rare and luxurious lineup will allow the romantic and beautiful melodies to bloom anew in the contemporary era through the actual performance of these rare instruments.

The Chi Mei Museum announced that the renowned writer and producer Yuan-Pu Chiao has once again been invited to serve as curator and guide for this music festival. The program includes a special lecture, solo instrument recitals, chamber music, and symphony concerts, showcasing the diverse facets of Brahms. (Editor: Li Shu-hua) 1150706
