(Central News Agency, Vienna, July 5, Comprehensive Foreign News) A senior executive at French cosmetics company L'Oreal told Reuters that L'Oreal is using artificial intelligence (AI) to identify molecules in skincare products and reapply them to shampoos, making product development four times faster than before.

Reuters reported that consumer goods giants, including Nestle, the parent company of Nespresso, Haleon, the manufacturer of Sensodyne toothpaste, and Mondelez, a major chocolate producer, are applying AI to product innovation. In some cases, this technology helps them test ingredients faster, inspire formulations, and address supply chain vulnerabilities.

Amidst rapidly changing consumer preferences, major consumer goods companies are facing pressure to accelerate innovation and reduce costs, driving the adoption of AI in product research and development.

Fabrice Megarbane, President of L'Oreal's Consumer Products Division, stated that AI has been utilized in laboratories for four years, successfully identifying new molecules for beauty products by predicting their efficacy on skin and hair.

Megarbane mentioned that L'Oreal's recent innovation involves reintroducing molecules originally used in skincare products into shampoos, providing hair with volume and fullness through collagen.

Filippo Catalano, Chief Information and Digital Officer at Mondelez, told Reuters that AI-powered product innovation has been a "game-changer."

This technology has helped Mondelez, which owns Cadbury and Toblerone, accelerate its manufacturing processes and rethink its formulations.

Mondelez stated that AI can generate recipes, including some "out-of-the-box" creative ideas, which are then evaluated by human experts. (Compiled by Chen Yu-ting) 1150706
