Yaita Akio Punched by Unknown Assailant; Katayama Kazuyuki Expresses Concern

(Central News Agency Reporter Yang Yao-ru Taipei July 6) Yaita Akio, CEO of the Indo-Pacific Strategy Think Tank, was punched by an unknown assailant in Taichung today. Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association Representative Katayama Kazuyuki stated that violence against speech is absolutely unacceptable.

Yaita Akio was invited to be a lecturer at a camp organized by the Chunyu Cultural and Educational Foundation in Taichung City. As he was leaving the hotel after the event at noon today, he was followed by an unknown assailant who punched him in the face. After being sent to the hospital by staff, he immediately reported the incident to the police.
