NEW YORK, July 6 (CNA) - Major Wall Street stock indexes closed higher on Thursday, boosted by gains in technology stocks as the corporate earnings season approaches.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 155.84 points, or 0.29%, to close at 53,055.91.

The S&P 500 gained 54.19 points, or 0.72%, to end at 7,537.43.
