TAIPEI (CNA) - Testing service provider GSS (耕興) reported self-assessed June revenue of NT$417 million, an increase of 0.5% month-on-month and 12.7% year-on-year. Second-quarter revenue reached NT$1.242 billion, marking the highest single-quarter revenue in three years. GSS stated that the effect of customer order transfers driven by new US regulations was a major catalyst for the second-quarter performance, and expects this trend to expand in the second half of the year.
GSS's cumulative revenue for the first half of the year was NT$2.434 billion, a year-on-year increase of 9.16%. GSS Chairman Huang Wen-liang (黃文亮) pointed out in a press release that the order transfer effect driven by new US regulations, coupled with strong demand for high-end network testing for AI laptops and 5G flagship smartphones, are the two major drivers of operational growth.
Huang Wen-liang said that the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has strengthened its regulatory system for testing. In the future, it will prioritize reports issued by laboratories located in the US or those without national security concerns. Laboratories in Taiwan are included within the scope of recognition.
Huang Wen-liang stated that although the new US regulations will not be fully implemented until the end of 2027, strong orders are already being felt from countries that have not signed a Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) with the United States. The business opportunities from customer order transfers are gradually emerging. To seize these opportunities, GSS is actively expanding its automated equipment and personnel.
In the field of new technology product markets, GSS has secured testing orders for wireless connectivity modules for drones, smart glasses, and robotic dogs. It has also obtained laboratory accreditation from a North American satellite communication operator. Testing services for low-orbit satellites are expected to grow this year.
