(CNA) - United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC) announced today its self-assessed June revenue of NT$23.125 billion, reaching a 44-month high, an increase of 0.79% month-on-month and 22.85% year-on-year. Second-quarter revenue was NT$68.733 billion, up 12.61% quarter-on-quarter, largely meeting expectations.
UMC had previously forecast that driven by stabilizing communication demand and steady demand from the computer, consumer electronics, and industrial sectors, wafer shipments in the second quarter would increase by 7% to 9% quarter-on-quarter, with the average selling price of products rising by approximately 1% to 3%.
UMC's revenue for the first half of the year was NT$129.771 billion, an increase of 11.28% compared to the same period last year.
UMC anticipates that its operations will heat up in the second half of the year, with performance exceeding the first half's level, due to some foundry price increases and strong demand for power management chips. In response to rising costs, comprehensive price adjustments with customers will be negotiated in 2027. (Editor: Lin Chia-hsin) 0706
