(Taipei, July 7, CNA, Foreign News) After two China Coast Guard vessels entered the waters near the Diaoyu Islands, which Japan claims as its "territorial waters," this morning, they were expelled by the Japan Coast Guard. In response, the China Coast Guard also stated that it had expelled Japanese vessels from the area.

According to AFP, a statement from the Japan Coast Guard (equivalent to the Coast Guard Administration) indicated that a warning to leave had been issued and that the China Coast Guard vessels were made to leave the area by around 9:20 AM today. Before these two Coast Guard vessels entered the waters claimed by Japan, the Japan Coast Guard confirmed the presence of four Chinese-related vessels nearby.

The Japan Coast Guard claims that such activities by the China Coast Guard are equivalent to "violating international law."

On the other hand, the China Coast Guard announced earlier that it had expelled Japanese vessels from the surrounding waters, issuing a statement that "China Coast Guard vessels took necessary control measures and warned and expelled them in accordance with the law."
