(Central News Agency, New York, July 7, Comprehensive Foreign News) Despite semiconductor giant Samsung announcing impressive financial results, the Nasdaq opened lower today amid a general decline in chip stocks. Investors are questioning the sustainability of the AI-driven bull market, and news of DeepSeek developing its own AI chips has also dampened sentiment in the US stock market.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average opened up 48.1 points, or 0.09%, at 53104.06.

The S&P 500 index opened down 20.8 points, or 0.28%, at 7516.63.

The Nasdaq Composite Index opened sharply down 161.0 points, or 0.62%, at 25960.13.

According to an exclusive report by Reuters, three sources familiar with the matter revealed that Chinese startup DeepSeek is developing its own artificial intelligence (AI) chips, a move that could reduce its reliance on chips from Nvidia and Huawei. Currently, DeepSeek relies on these two companies' chips for training and operating its popular models.

The sources also stated that the chip is designed not for training new models, but for inference computing, to generate responses for users using trained models. (Compiled by Yang Zhaoyan) 1150707
