Subject Test Postponed for First Time Due to Typhoon; Specific Date to Be Announced July 8

(Central News Agency, reporter Chen Chih-chung, Hsinchu, July 7) Due to the impact of Typhoon Bavi, Minister of Education Cheng Ying-yao announced today that the 115 academic year Subject Tests, originally scheduled for July 11-12, have been confirmed for postponement. The College Entrance Examination Steering Committee is expected to announce the specific new date tomorrow.

Typhoon Bavi is forecast to bring strong winds and heavy rain, affecting the Subject Tests. Cheng Ying-yao attended the 115th National Education Bureau Directors Conference held in Hsinchu County today and spoke to the media after the meeting when asked about related issues.

Cheng Ying-yao stated that it appears Typhoon Bavi will definitely impact Taiwan. The College Entrance Examination Steering Committee held a meeting this afternoon and has confirmed the postponement. However, further precise judgment is required, and the committee will meet again tomorrow to determine the exact new date.

Cheng Ying-yao mentioned that current proposals include postponing the tests to July 13-14, or July 14-15, depending on the typhoon's trajectory for a more accurate decision.

The College Entrance Examination Steering Committee responded later via text, stating that during today's meeting, the Central Weather Administration provided the latest meteorological forecasts, and the College Entrance Examination Center reviewed the schedule for all examination-related tasks. Due to the cascading effect of adjusting various schedules, including subsequent admission schedules, further consolidation is needed.

The College Entrance Examination Steering Committee and the College Entrance Examination Center will make a final decision based on the preparations for examination adjustments and updated weather data from the morning of July 8.
