(CNA) TEEMA Chairman and Foxconn Chairman Liu Yangwei revealed today that the fifth location for the TEEMA Science Park may be the Philippines, as computing power demand will continue to grow significantly in the next three to five years. Regarding the future development of sovereign industries, Liu Yangwei believes that not only sovereign AI data centers need to be localized, but also the AI data center supply chain. The TEEMA Science Park is precisely designed to address these trends.

Liu Yangwei was invited to attend the Taiwan Venture Capital and Private Equity Association Annual Meeting and delivered a speech on technology platforms and innovation opportunities under global industrial restructuring, sharing Foxconn Group's investment experience and an introduction to the TEEMA Science Park.

Liu Yangwei revealed that the TEEMA Science Park is currently planning to establish facilities in the United States (Arizona and Texas), Mexico, Poland, and India. The fifth location may be planned for the Philippines.

Observing Foxconn's investment experience, Liu Yangwei pointed out that from July 2019 to the present, the group has cumulatively invested in 33 startups through direct strategic investments, with 20 having clear results or success cases, achieving an initial success rate of approximately 61%. The group's top five funds combined with venture capital private equity funds have cumulatively invested in 594 startups, with 321 having clear results or success cases, achieving an initial success rate of approximately 54%.

Liu Yangwei also cited the group's own affiliated enterprises as success cases, such as the successful implementation of the electric vehicle platform CDMS business model in multiple vehicle models leading to direct mass production. However, there were also failures due to misjudging the timing, such as entering the smartphone competition too late.

Regarding AI computing power demand, Liu Yangwei stated that there are four major groups: model developers, cloud service providers (CSPs), governments, and enterprises. Governments are increasingly using AI computing power to deploy more precise drone systems, while enterprises are exploring AI computing power applications. Both governments and enterprises recognize that computing power demand will continue to grow significantly in the next three to five years.

Discussing future sovereign industry trends, Liu Yangwei pointed out that sovereign artificial intelligence (AI) has evolved into "sovereign AI data Infrastructure." This not only involves the localization of AI data centers but also the localization of the related AI data center supply chain. He believes that these trends are forming over the next decade, and in response, TEEMA has proposed the TEEMA Science Park to address the trend of supply chains with hardware manufacturing and production dispersed across different regions.

Liu Yangwei stated that AI applications are bringing new ways of working and living, which can elevate human life. The rise of experience-based industries for enjoying life in the future can create more labor demand. In the future, people may not need to work five days a week, perhaps only four or three days, and spend the remaining time experiencing life. (Editor: Chang Liang-chih) 1150707)
