(Central News Agency, reporter Guan Ruiping, MiaoLi County, July 7) Fifteen enterprises from MiaoLi County participated in the 2026 Paris International Invention Exhibition, winning 4 gold, 7 silver, and 17 bronze medals. All 28 R&D products received awards, marking the best results in history. County Magistrate Chung Tung-chin recognized the award-winning businesses today, hoping for collaboration between industry, government, and academia to create an innovative and sustainable industrial environment.
Xu Jie-chung, head of the Taiwan delegation to the 2026 Paris International Invention Exhibition in France, stated that the Taiwan delegation had 64 entries this year, with 28 coming from MiaoLi County enterprises. They secured 4 gold, 7 silver, and 17 bronze medals, a total of 28 awards, achieving a "grand slam" with the best results in history, demonstrating the deep R&D capabilities of MiaoLi enterprises.
The MiaoLi County Government's Department of Industrial Development stated that innovation and R&D are crucial for enhancing industrial competitiveness. In recent years, the county government has continuously encouraged local small and medium-sized enterprises to invest in R&D and innovation through local SBIR (Small and Medium Enterprise Innovation Research Program) and various support resources, assisting enterprises in transforming creativity into products and technology into business opportunities.
Among the award-winning products, Baolun Plastics Co., Ltd., with the support of the SBIR program, successfully developed a "multi-functional plate for convenient bowl stacking" that is both environmentally friendly and practical, effectively reducing the use of disposable plastic wrap. It received high praise from French judges and won a gold medal.
In addition, Taiwan Popular Color Co., Ltd. developed a "spring coffee filter" that can replace the filter cup and paper used in pour-over coffee. Not only does it save on consumables and maintain the coffee's taste, but it also avoids concerns about plasticizers leaching from the filter paper. Fulongchang Water Purification Co., Ltd. collaborated with the University of Technology and Science to innovate and improve RO reverse osmosis water purification equipment, creating a cold-chain ice drip coffee machine. The ice drip coffee, extracted under a dust-free, controlled environment, amazed the international exhibition, with both entries winning gold awards and attracting expressions of cooperation from international manufacturers.
MiaoLi County Magistrate Chung Tung-chin met with and recognized the award-winning businesses at the county government today. He said that sometimes a small invention can bring more convenience to life. Innovative inventions require not only individual creativity and effort but also a sound R&D environment and government support. The county government will continue to cooperate with the University of Technology and Science, Yu Da University of Science and Technology, and local enterprises to build an industrial environment that combines innovation, competitiveness, and sustainable development through the collaboration of industry, government, and academia.
