Affected by Typhoon Maysak and its circulation, Guangxi has been hit by extreme heavy rainfall since the 4th, causing flooding, water and power outages in multiple areas of Fangchenggang, Guigang, and Nanning. Some areas of the East Ban River in Nanning City have experienced a "50-year flood" disaster.
According to reports from domestic media outlets Jiemian News and Red Star News, on the morning of the 6th, the Liulan Reservoir and Yunbiao Reservoir in Hengzhou City, Nanning, Guangxi, experienced overtopping and breaches, while the Liuwang Reservoir in Binyang County experienced overtopping. According to preliminary official statistics, approximately 55,000 people in Nanning City have been affected by the floods. The local government has evacuated 48,000 people, and at least 2 people have died.
Villagers from Yabei Village, Yunbiao Town, Hengzhou City, who were affected by the disaster, stated that over a thousand villagers have sought refuge on a nearby mountain. However, there is a lack of food at the site, an infant has a fever, and an elder was bitten by a snake. Several villagers remain missing, and official rescue forces have not yet reached the resettlement point.
A staff member from the Nanning Emergency Management Bureau stated on the evening of the 6th that Yunbiao Town is one of the more severely affected townships in Hengzhou City. The staff member confirmed that the bureau is aware of the situation and that rescue efforts are underway, with drones, helicopters, and other rescue resources being mobilized.
