(CNA) New Taipei City, July 7 - Rakuten Monkeys manager Tseng Hao-chu stated that employing two foreign hitters is a potential future direction, and the pitching staff will depend on local pitchers to withstand the pressure. Lin Tzu-wei will be adjusted back to a starting role, with other local starting pitcher candidates including Tseng Chia-hui, Chen Ke-yi, and Liu Chia-hsiang.

The Monkeys have signed two foreign fielders, Ronnie Dawson and Adam Walker. Dawson was registered today, and Japanese pitcher Motoki Sakakibara was deregistered. Tseng Hao-chu said in an interview that having two foreign hitters in the first team is the direction, and after Walker reports, they will evaluate which foreign pitcher to deregister.

When asked if having two foreign hitters in the first team would increase the pressure on the pitching staff, Tseng Hao-chu replied that in the past, they wanted to develop more local starting pitchers but lacked the space. He admitted there are expectations and concerns. Currently, the local pitchers need to shoulder more innings. Based on observations from the first half of the season, the performance of local pitchers has been stable.

Tseng Hao-chu also mentioned that he knows this arrangement will put pressure on local pitchers, and it depends on how they withstand the pressure and seize opportunities. The four local starting pitchers currently planned include Tseng Chia-hui, Chen Ke-yi, Liu Chia-hsiang, and Lin Tzu-wei.

Lin Tzu-wei has appeared in a total of 21 games in the first team this season, all in relief, pitching 32.2 innings and allowing 9 runs (7 earned runs). His record is 1 win, 1 loss, with 8 holds, and an ERA of 1.93.
