(CNA, Taipei, July 7) Legislative Yuan Vice President Chi-chen Jiang hosted U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth for a banquet this evening. Jiang stated that Duckworth visits Taiwan almost every year, making her Taiwan's best friend. He expressed hope for continued deepening of the profound friendship between the two sides and further promoting the steady development of Taiwan-U.S. relations.

The Legislative Yuan issued a press release today stating that Jiang, accompanied by KMT legislators Lai Ssu-bao and Yang Ching-yu, DPP legislators Chen Kuan-ting and Kuo Yu-ching, and TPP legislator Hung Yu-hsiang, hosted U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth and her delegation for a banquet this evening. Director of the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) Taipei Office Raymond Greene also attended.

The Legislative Yuan stated that Jiang, on behalf of Legislative Yuan President Han Kuo-yu, sincerely welcomed Duckworth's visit to Taiwan again. He also mentioned that legislators who recently accompanied Han Kuo-yu on his visit to the United States were specially invited to this evening's banquet to reminisce about their friendship.

Jiang pointed out that since Duckworth's visit to Taiwan during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021, she has led delegations to visit almost every year, making her Taiwan's best friend. The steady development of Taiwan-U.S. relations is precisely because of good friends like Duckworth who continuously cultivate and support it. Tonight's gathering was as warm as a family reunion, and he hopes for continued deepening of the profound friendship between the two sides and further promoting the steady development of Taiwan-U.S. relations.

The Legislative Yuan stated that Duckworth thanked Jiang for his warm hospitality, emphasizing her annual visits to Taiwan and her hope to demonstrate firm support through concrete actions. She added that the U.S. Congress will continue to be a pillar in promoting the Taiwan-U.S. partnership.
