(CNA, reporter Wu Rui-chi, Taoyuan, July 7) The Taoyuan City Department of Tourism announced today that a familiarization tour, organized by a Taiwanese travel agency and comprising approximately 50 members from Thai travel agencies, tourism media, and influencers, is visiting Taiwan from July 6th to 9th for in-depth exchange. The tour's first stop in Taoyuan focused on religious cultural attractions, with participants affirming its potential for developing in-depth tourism.
The Taoyuan City Government's Department of Tourism issued a press release stating that the familiarization tour was invited to Taiwan by Taiwan Yanfu Travel Service. On the first day, participants visited religious sites such as Weitian Temple in Guishan, Yingfu Songqiong Temple in Daxi, and Wufu Temple in Luzhu. Through worship, blessings, cultural guided tours, and local story experiences, they gained a feel for Taiwan's religious and cultural characteristics.
The Department of Tourism stated that the tour members found Taoyuan City to be conveniently located with quick access to itineraries after arriving at the airport, making it suitable for planning religious cultural and in-depth tourism products. The religious cultural experiences in Taoyuan were deeply impressive, not only allowing participation in blessing ceremonies but also providing an understanding of Taiwanese faith culture through temple architecture and historical stories. In the future, they will evaluate incorporating religious culture, natural landscapes, and unique experiences into product planning to extend the duration of tourist stays and enhance Taoyuan's attractiveness as a tourist destination.
Taoyuan City Government Department of Tourism Director Chen Ching-fang pointed out that according to statistics from the Tourism Administration of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, the number of Thai travelers to Taiwan exceeded 400,000 in 2025, making Thailand a significant source market in Southeast Asia for Taiwan. In the first quarter of 2026, the total number of overnight stays in Taoyuan by inbound travelers from Thailand grew by 5.36%, indicating high development potential in the Thai market. The city government will continue to develop unique itineraries that meet the needs of the Thai market by integrating tourism corridors such as "Dalongmen," "Pearl Coast," and "Exploring Beiyi," to expand international source markets.
