(Central News Agency, Reporter He Xiu Ling, Taipei, July 7) The trend of healthy eating is driving the growth of the decaffeinated tea market. Market research firm Nielsen points out that by 2025, the market size of decaffeinated Chinese ready-to-drink tea in Taiwan will exceed NT$3.2 billion, with an annual growth rate of nearly 30%. In response to the upcoming peak season for summer beverages, Lotte and King Car have recently launched new sugar-free and decaffeinated grain teas, expanding their presence in the ready-to-drink tea market.

Lotte stated today through a press release that according to observations by international market research firm Kantar Worldpanel, nearly 70% of Taiwanese consumers have purchased sugar-free ready-to-drink tea in the past year, indicating that sugar-free tea has become the mainstream in the ready-to-drink tea market. This not only drives the growth momentum of the overall tea beverage market within the non-alcoholic beverage market but also boosts the demand for grain tea.

Lotte said that with the optimistic outlook for the health trend and the rise of grain tea, the penetration rate of barley tea purchases in Taiwanese households has risen to over 30%, showing that consumers consider "grain flavor plus decaffeination" an important option for evening consumption and as a substitute for sugary drinks. Therefore, they recently launched a new grain tea brand, entering the ready-to-drink tea channel with their first product, Buckwheat National Treasure Tea, hoping to capture the summer beverage business opportunities.

In addition, King Car stated that observing the continuous increase in demand for daily hydration and healthy eating among the younger generation, their brand recently launched a sugar-free barley tea, emphasizing its sugar-free, decaffeinated, and artificial flavor-free qualities, aiming to meet all-day drinking needs.

King Car stated that according to market observations and relevant surveys, the demand for decaffeinated tea and daily hydration beverages has been steadily growing in recent years. Especially among Gen Z (born between 1997 and 2012) and Millennials (born between the 1980s and 1990s), the acceptance of sugar-free, refreshing, and low-burden beverages has significantly increased. Consumers are also increasingly concerned about ingredient transparency, and decaffeinated beverages are gradually becoming one of the choices for daily consumption.

King Car told Central News Agency that they are optimistic about sugar-free tea as a trend and will continue to launch related new products this year. (Editor: Lin Jia Xian) 1150707
