(Central News Agency, Hsinchu City, July 7) The Hsinchu City Government announced today that roads such as Beida Road and Minsheng Road around the Big City Shopping Center are important commercial districts with heavy traffic. However, businesses often illegally occupy roads or place merchandise in arcades. A clearance project has been launched to remove obstructions and return the roads to the public.
Hsinchu Mayor Kao Hung-an told CNA reporters today that the area near the Big City Shopping Center is an important commercial district in the city, but businesses often illegally occupy roads, place merchandise in arcades, or park motorcycles illegally on sidewalks, seriously affecting pedestrian safety and traffic flow.
She said that this joint enforcement operation emphasizes both education and crackdowns. The police will strengthen enforcement against road obstructions and illegal stalls around the Big City, and will remove motorcycles occupying roads and arcades. The Environmental Protection Bureau will clear road waste, unlicensed vehicles, and illegal advertising signs. The Public Works Department will dismantle fixed obstructions and privately installed ramps that affect passage, returning the roads to the public.
Kao Hung-an stated that in addition to issuing citations for illegal parking, the Environmental Protection Bureau and the Public Works Department are also assisting in clearing numerous obstructions occupying roads, improving pedestrian passage space, and maintaining traffic safety and smoothness in the commercial district.
The Hsinchu City Government stated in writing that roads and arcades are public thoroughfares and should not be arbitrarily occupied by businesses. The public should also park their vehicles in accordance with regulations. In the future, the city government will continue to conduct irregular cross-departmental crackdowns to maintain road safety and the city's appearance in Hsinchu City. (Editor: Chang Ming-kun) 1150707
