US-Iran War Key News
(CNA Dubai, July 7 - Reuters) The UK Maritime Trade Operations reported today that another tanker or transport ship was attacked in the Strait of Hormuz, marking the third vessel in the past 24 hours. Earlier, Qatar accused Iran of attacking one of its liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers, with sources stating the ship is at risk of explosion.
The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) posted on social media platform X: "UKMTO has received a report of an incident involving a tanker transiting the Strait of Hormuz."
"The tanker was attacked by an unknown drone, causing minor structural damage. There were no casualties or environmental impact."
Reuters reported that the other two tankers or transport ships attacked today included a Qatari LNG carrier and a crude oil tanker reportedly flying the Saudi Arabian flag, which was damaged near the coast of Oman and is believed to be the supertanker "Wedyan." The cause of the incident is unclear.
Qatar accused Iran of attacking its large LNG carrier "Al Rekayyat." The ship reported being hit by a drone at night, causing a fire in the engine room.
All personnel on board are safe and being evacuated, but maritime security sources briefed on the situation told Reuters that the large fire on the ship poses a risk of explosion. (Compiled by Yang Chao-yen) 1150707
