(CNA, reporter Chung Jung-feng, Taipei, July 7) Yulon-Nissan General Manager Yao Chen-hsiang assessed today that the Taiwanese auto market has a chance to recover in the second half of the year, remaining stable compared to the same period in 2025. Overall market demand this year will not be worse than last year. However, the New Taiwan dollar's depreciation against the US dollar to 32 NTD puts pressure on Yulon-Nissan's performance.
Yulon-Nissan held a new model launch event for the NISSAN luxury SUV X-TRAIL in the afternoon, where Yao Chen-hsiang briefly spoke to the media.
Looking ahead to the second half of the year, Yulon-Nissan stated that in addition to launching the X-TRAIL, it plans to release a revamped X-TRAIL e-POWER model in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, it will introduce the QASHQAI e-POWER, a brand-new imported model that is popular in the European market.
Observing the Chinese mainland auto market, Yao Chen-hsiang analyzed that the market in the first half of the year was not very strong, with good export performance but a relative decline in domestic demand. The competition in the Chinese mainland auto market is fierce, and only new electric vehicles have a chance to emerge.
Regarding the recent depreciation of the New Taiwan dollar to 32 NTD, Yao Chen-hsiang did not hide that the depreciation trend of the NT dollar puts pressure on Yulon-Nissan, and they will continue to monitor the situation. Yulon-Nissan explained that, overall, an appreciating New Taiwan dollar is relatively beneficial to Yulon-Nissan's performance.
Yulon-Nissan previously estimated its target for new car registrations in Taiwan this year to be 420,000 units, with a chance of growth compared to last year's 414,000 units. Growth is expected in the Taiwanese luxury and electric vehicle segments. (Editor: Lin Chia-hsien) 1150707
