Typhoon Bavi Approaches; Taipei City Reserve Command Accompanies Chiang Wan-an in Inspecting Flood Control Preparations

(Central News Agency, Taipei, July 7) With Typhoon Bavi approaching, the Reserve Command announced today that Colonel Yen Hung-ta, commander of the Taipei City Reserve Command, accompanied Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an yesterday in inspecting key flood control areas such as Wuxing Street and the Choumei Pumping Station. They assessed the local flood control readiness and emphasized maintaining close contact with the city government to prepare for disaster response and protect public safety.

The Reserve Command stated that in response to Typhoon Bavi's approach, Yen Hung-ta accompanied Chiang Wan-an yesterday to key flood control areas including Wuxing Street, Wende Road, Dahu Park, and the Choumei Pumping Station. They conducted on-site inspections of various pre-disaster preparedness tasks, understood the local flood control capacity and readiness, and maintained close contact with the city government to jointly strengthen the disaster response mechanism.

The Reserve Command pointed out that during the inspection, Chiang Wan-an reviewed the pre-positioning of flood control equipment, the clearing of drainage systems, and the operational status of pumping station equipment one by one. He urged all relevant units to continue implementing all preparedness tasks to ensure flood control facilities remain in optimal operating condition. Yen Hung-ta also used this opportunity to grasp the disaster prevention preparedness progress in each administrative district and to commend the personnel on the front lines executing flood control preparations.

Yen Hung-ta emphasized that the Reserve Command will continue to maintain close contact with the Taipei City Government and all relevant units, completing all mobilization and preparedness tasks according to mission requirements.
