(CNA) - Chen, a man who was unable to reconcile with his ex-girlfriend, Ms. Pa, allegedly sent her threatening messages and installed a GPS tracker on her scooter to monitor her movements. In March of this year, he fatally stabbed Ms. Pa outside her rented residence in Taichung. Prosecutors have since indicted him on charges including murder.
According to the indictment from the Taichung District Prosecutors Office, Chen and Ms. Pa began dating in March 2025. In late August of the same year, Chen proposed a breakup, and their romantic relationship ended. However, Chen continued to contact Ms. Pa afterward, expressing his desire to get back together, but she did not respond or acknowledge his requests.
On March 11, 2026, Chen sent Ms. Pa threatening messages, including, "Aren't you afraid? Aren't you afraid if you leave this world?" He also stated he would go to her apartment building, causing Ms. Pa to feel fearful. Chen then accessed Ms. Pa's email and social media accounts. Upon learning that Ms. Pa was planning to move out of her rented apartment, he installed a GPS tracker on her scooter to monitor her whereabouts.
On March 27, 2026, Chen waited with a knife outside Ms. Pa's apartment building. When she returned home, he pursued her and stabbed her multiple times with a fruit knife. Two passersby who witnessed the incident intervened and were also injured. After seeing that Ms. Pa had died, Chen fled the scene in his car. Police were alerted, pursued him, and intercepted his vehicle in an alley, leading to his arrest.
Following an investigation by the Taichung District Prosecutors Office, and based on the evidence, Chen was indicted on April 2, 2026, on charges of murder, intimidation, and unauthorized access to computer equipment under the Penal Code. The case will be heard by the Taichung District Court.
