(Central News Agency Taipei, 8th) Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Mao Ning stated today that the Chinese government welcomes more American citizens to visit China for exchanges.

According to a report by Lu Media Pengpai News, a media outlet asked at a regular press conference of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs about the successful hosting of the 2026 "Guling缘" China-US Youth Baseball Friendship Games and Sports Exchange Week in China, where 8 youth baseball teams from China and the US competed and made friends through baseball, enhancing mutual understanding and friendship. The "5 years, 50,000 people" initiative previously announced by China has already achieved its expected goals ahead of schedule, and the number of American inbound tourists also grew rapidly in the first half of this year. What are China's expectations for China-US people-to-people exchanges?

"Guling缘" is a story of US-China interaction discovered by Chinese President Xi Jinping in 1992 when he served as the Fuzhou Municipal Party Secretary.

Mao Ning stated that the Chinese government is pleased to see that the Guling story, spanning a century, is now revitalizing and writing new chapters of friendly exchanges. Recently, exchange activities such as the China-US Youth Sports Exchange Week, the Flying Tigers Youth Leaders Dialogue, and "Touring China with Pandas" have been successfully held, fully demonstrating the common sentiments between the people of China and the US.

She said, "We welcome more American citizens to visit China for exchanges."
