(Central News Agency, reporter Cheng Wei-chen, Changhua, July 8) The 2026 Central Taiwan Business Symposium was held in Changhua County today. Changhua County Magistrate Wang Hui-mei stated that in response to tariff issues, businesses from five counties and cities have gathered to discuss this matter, hoping to help enterprises establish themselves in Taiwan and look out to the world.

The Changhua County Government hosted this year's Central Taiwan Business Symposium. Attendees included Wang Hui-mei, Taichung Mayor Lu Shiow-yen, Miaoli County Magistrate Chung Tung-chin, Nantou County Magistrate Hsu Shu-hua, Yunlin County Magistrate Chang Li-shan, Legislative Yuan Vice President Johnny Chiang, and representatives from industry and commerce councils and business associations from each county and city. They discussed topics such as global economic trends, industrial upgrading and transformation, and sustainable development.

Wang Hui-mei said that the founder of the Central Taiwan Friendship Association, Mr. Tung Cheng-tsung, established the business symposium 8 years ago. Through the symposium, they consult with each other and jointly seek development opportunities, enabling businesses to strive for excellence and reach new heights.

Lu Shiow-yen said that she hopes to pool wisdom and unite to create a better economy. The common focus for central Taiwan counties and cities is to build the nation's next "mountain of national defense" – the unmanned vehicle industry. Securing a drone test flight zone in the central Taiwan region and ensuring equitable distribution of funds is the best direction for national industrial development.

Chung Tung-chin stated that he wants to use this occasion to speak up for traditional industries. Central Taiwan industries can exchange and learn from each other, and he also looks forward to connecting tourism to promote closer regional development.

Hsu Shu-hua said she hopes everyone will unite to expand the living circle, industry, and economy, bringing greater benefits to central Taiwan. Through the business symposium, everyone can grow, and local governments can hear the voices of businesses.

Chang Li-shan said that whether it is energy policy, sustainable development, international trade situations, or extreme weather, these are all challenges for everyone. Communicating and exchanging ideas on this platform is highly meaningful. (Editor: Lee Heng-shan) 1150708
