(Central News Agency, reporter Su Muchun, Taichung, July 8) A screenshot of the Taichung Municipal Dongshan High School's admission notice has been circulating online, stating that applicants need to bring a People's Republic of China graduation certificate for registration. The school clarified that this is false information and filed a complaint. Police apprehended the suspect, Mr. Chen, today and will refer him to the prosecutor for forgery and other offenses.
Recently, netizens have been sharing a screenshot on social media platforms. The image shows an admission notice posted on the Dongshan High School website on the 7th, stating that applicants need to bring a People's Republic of China graduation certificate and related documents for registration, which has sparked discussion among netizens.
The school issued a statement saying that the content of the "Admission Notice for Successful Applicants" circulating on social media contains false statements claiming that applicants with a People's Republic of China graduation certificate can register. These claims are inconsistent with the facts.
The school pointed out that the relevant regulations stated in the announcement are handled in accordance with the current laws and regulations of the competent authorities, and it is absolutely not the case that "applicants with a People's Republic of China graduation certificate can register" as claimed online. Such interpretations are purely erroneous and have caused public misunderstanding. The school urges everyone not to forward unverified information to avoid misleading the public.
The school stated that it has reported the matter to the police to pursue legal responsibility against those who spread false information and damage the school's reputation. The school will continue to uphold the principles of lawful administration and transparency in all its enrollment and educational work.
The Fifth Precinct of the Taichung City Police Bureau stated today that after the school filed the complaint, the police traced the source of the dissemination and apprehended the suspect, a 40-year-old man surnamed Chen, in Fengyuan District at 11:20 AM on July 8. After questioning, the case will be referred to the Taiwan Taichung District Prosecutors Office for investigation on suspicion of forgery and defamation. (Editor: Huang Ming-hsi) 1150708
