(Central News Agency, Prague, July 8) Four Taiwanese children's choirs traveled to Hungary to compete in the "5th Budapest International Choral Celebration 2026." They competed against 36 top choirs from 20 countries worldwide, sweeping multiple grand prizes and highest honors, allowing the world to hear Taiwan's diverse culture and musical prowess.

The four Taiwanese children's choirs hailed from Pingtung, Tainan, Kaohsiung, and Taipei. They participated in the "5th Budapest International Choral Celebration 2026," bringing the diverse culture and solid musical foundation of their hometowns to shine for Taiwan on the international stage.

Pingtung's "Hope Children's Choir," with its pure and moving celestial voices and outstanding performance techniques, stood out in the highly competitive "Grand Prix." They swept the highest honor, Laurea Summa Cum Laude, in three categories: "Youth Female Choir," "Folk Song," and "Sacred Music," demonstrating unparalleled singing ability.

In the "Open Competition," Taiwanese children's choirs also achieved continuous success. Tainan's "You Wei Children's Choir" clinched three gold awards in the Youth Equal Voice, Contemporary, and Folk Song categories, and won double championships in the Youth Equal Voice and Contemporary categories. Simultaneously, in the Grand Prix Contemporary category, they seized the highest honor, Laurea Summa Cum Laude, delivering a brilliant performance.

Additionally, the "Fuhsing Private School Choir" won the gold award in the Children's category and strongly secured the championship in that group. The "Kaohsiung Children's Choir" achieved excellent results, winning a gold award in the Folk Song category and a silver award in the Children's category.

The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Hungary stated that in addition to the choirs' repeated achievements, the Pingtung Hope Children's Choir and Tainan You Wei Children's Choir received a special invitation from the organizers to perform at the National Bartók Hall of the Palace of Arts (Müpa) in Budapest. They joined choirs and symphony orchestras from around the world in a joint performance of Mozart's "Requiem."

Furthermore, the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Hungary specially arranged for the You Wei Children's Choir to perform a flash mob in the grand hall of the Renaissance-style Budapest Keleti Railway Station. They sang "Taiwan" with their melodious voices, allowing Taiwan's music to resonate in this important Hungarian transportation hub, showcasing the soft power of cultural exchange and public diplomacy.

The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Hungary stated that these fruitful achievements not only demonstrate the confidence of Taiwan's new generation on the international stage but also make their singing a most moving form of cultural diplomacy, leaving a brilliant chapter in this choral festival.
