(Central News Agency, Chiayi County, July 8) To encourage the elderly and people with disabilities to go out more, develop exercise habits, improve their health, and expand their social lives, Chiayi County is upgrading the benefits of its Senior and Care Cards. Starting in July, cardholders can use 30 points to access the Shuishang Township Public Sports Center for one hour of free fitness.

The Chiayi County Social Affairs Bureau held a press conference today at the Shuishang Township Public Sports Center for the "Chiayi County Senior and Care Card Benefits Upgrade: Swipe Your Card to Enter the Gym" event. Chiayi County Magistrate Weng Chang-liang, Shuishang Township Mayor Lin Xiang-ting, and elderly residents exercised together at the gym.

Many elderly attendees were entering a gym for the first time and were very curious, wanting to try all the fitness equipment. They said they had never been to a "place for young people" before, but found the air conditioning to be strong and comfortable, and that young men and women were there to guide them on how to use the equipment, which felt great.

Weng Chang-liang told reporters that the Shuishang Township Public Sports Center offers a high-quality sports environment and professional guidance resources, making it an important venue for promoting health. Through this preferential measure, the service functions of the Senior and Care Cards are extended from transportation to health promotion, encouraging the elderly and people with disabilities to go out and cultivate regular exercise habits, thereby improving their physical and mental health and fitness levels, and enjoying a healthier, more fulfilling, and quality life.

Lin Xiang-ting pointed out that residents with Senior or Care Cards throughout the county can use the gym at the Shuishang Township Public Sports Center for free by swiping their card once to deduct 30 points for one hour of use. The county government subsidizes flatland seniors with 1,000 points per month for their Senior Cards and mountain area seniors with 1,200 points. We welcome everyone to use this service.

The Social Affairs Bureau stated that starting in July, cardholders of Chiayi County's Senior or Care Cards can exercise at the Shuishang Township Public Sports Center. During non-public welfare hours, cardholders can use 30 points per entry for access to fitness facilities, badminton courts, and table tennis courts, allowing cardholders to choose exercise methods that suit their needs.

Additionally, seniors aged 65 and above who are registered residents of Chiayi County can bring their Senior Card or relevant identification to the Shuishang Township Public Sports Center to apply for a Public Welfare Card for free gym access. Public welfare hours are Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, with one use per day. (Editor: Chang Ya-ching) 1150708
