(Central News Agency, Pingtung County, July 8) The Ministry of Health and Welfare announced yesterday that products using less than 20% carcinogenic oil must also be removed from shelves. Pingtung County Government dispatched personnel today to investigate Taiwan Youming Food Company, preemptively removing a total of 6,389.9 kilograms from shelves and continuing to trace downstream supply.
Pingtung County Government stated in a press release today that personnel were dispatched early this morning to the manufacturer, Taiwan Youming Food Company, to investigate. It was found that a total of 33 products, including sauces and broths, were supplied to 35 downstream businesses. These businesses were instructed to cease sales, conduct a full recall, and cooperate with return and exchange procedures. The preemptive removal from shelves totaled 6,389.9 kilograms. Investigations into downstream supply, recovery quantities, and inspections of related catering businesses will continue.
The County Government's Health Bureau explained that upon receiving notification of the Zhonglian problematic oil case, inspections were initiated. As of July 7, a total of 69 establishments, including self-service restaurants, catering businesses, night markets, and supermarkets within the jurisdiction, were inspected. All results complied with regulations, and no problematic products were found. Investigations will be expanded.
In addition, the Education Department has inventoried county-affiliated schools and group meal suppliers, cross-referencing the ingredient registration system and inventory one by one to confirm that Pingtung school lunches have not purchased or used products from the problematic batch.
