Trump says US will authorize Ukraine to produce Patriot missiles

(Central News Agency, Ankara, Dec. 8,綜合外電) U.S. President Trump said today at a meeting with Ukrainian President Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit in the Turkish capital Ankara that the United States will authorize Ukraine to produce Patriot air defense missiles.

According to Agence France-Presse and Reuters, Trump told Zelenskyy: "So, one of the things we're going to talk about is we're going to give you the license to make Patriots. That's pretty cool, right? Then you can't complain that we're not giving you enough."

Zelenskyy has repeatedly pleaded for these U.S.-made interceptor missiles. This is the only weapon in Ukraine's arsenal capable of shooting down ballistic missiles. He was expected to raise this issue during his meeting with Trump.

Trump said that both warring parties want to see the conflict end, but neither Russian President Putin nor Ukrainian President Zelenskyy are easy to deal with. (Compiled by Liu Shuqin) 1150708
