(CNA Taipei, Aug. 8) Super Typhoon "Bavi" is estimated to cover half of Taiwan and will subsequently make landfall in mainland China. China's State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters (State Flood Control HQ) launched a Level IV emergency response for flood and typhoon control in Zhejiang and Fujian today.
According to China News Service, forecasts from China's meteorological departments indicate that Bavi may make landfall or brush the northern coast of Taiwan on the afternoon of the 11th, then make landfall on the coast between Fuqing, Fujian, and Wenling, Zhejiang, in the evening, after which its intensity will gradually weaken.
Based on the "National Flood Control and Drought Relief Emergency Plan" and relevant regulations, China's State Flood Control HQ decided last night to launch a Level IV emergency response for flood and typhoon control in Zhejiang and Fujian. The emergency response level will be upgraded and adjusted based on the typhoon's development. (Editor: Feng Zhao / Yang Zhaoyan) 1150708
