Taipei, July 8 (CNA) China's Guangxi, Hubei, and Gansu regions have been hit by storms and floods. The Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) expressed its sincere condolences and concern over the disaster on Tuesday, praying for the repose of the deceased, the speedy recovery of the injured, and the swift completion of disaster recovery to minimize losses.

The Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) stated in a press release on Tuesday that due to extreme weather and typhoons, major disasters have occurred successively in China's Guangxi, Hubei, and Gansu regions. As of July 7, statistics show that over 20 people have died and nearly 400,000 people have been affected.

The MAC pointed out that the government expresses its sincere condolences and concern to the relevant parties in China, praying for the repose of the deceased, the speedy recovery of the injured, and hoping that the affected areas will overcome the current difficulties, complete post-disaster recovery as soon as possible, and fully reduce disaster losses.

The Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF) is monitoring the safety of Taiwanese citizens in the affected areas through various channels and has preliminarily learned that no Taiwanese citizens have been affected so far. According to statistics from the "Taiwanese Citizens Traveling to Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau Dynamic Registration System," there are currently 39 people in Guangxi, 74 in Hubei, and 36 in Gansu.
