(CNA reporter He Xiu-ling Taipei, July 8) The construction site undertaken by CTCI (China Engineering Consultants, Inc.) near Alley 16, Lane 199, Dunhua North Road, Taipei City, experienced a localized road collapse today, accompanied by some road cracking and a small amount of gas leakage. CTCI stated that an emergency response mechanism has been activated, the situation at the scene has been brought under control, the scope of the collapse has not expanded, and the safety of nearby buildings and public facilities is not compromised.

CTCI issued a statement today saying that related operations were immediately halted, and police, fire departments, and relevant public utility units were notified to handle the situation. Traffic control and safety perimeters were implemented at the scene. The gas leakage has been dealt with by the relevant pipeline units, and the situation at the scene is now under control, with the scope of the collapse not expanding.

CTCI pointed out that according to on-site inspections and assessments by the Taipei Society of Structural Engineers and the Taipei Society of Civil Engineers, no immediate structural safety concerns have been found in the surrounding buildings or the construction structure. The safety of nearby buildings and public facilities is not compromised, nor has it caused significant impact on surrounding traffic. Following the completion of public pipeline repairs, backfilling and road restoration work will be carried out as soon as possible.

CTCI stated that the cause of the incident and related responsibilities are still subject to further investigation and clarification by the authorities and relevant professional units. CTCI will fully cooperate with all investigation operations and continue to carry out on-site safety monitoring and restoration work to ensure the safety of the project and the surrounding environment.
