Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Signs ROT Contract for Taipei Main Station Mall, Takes Over on July 25 for Phased Renovations

(Central News Agency Reporter He Xiu-ling, Taipei, July 8) Shin Kong Mitsukoshi confirmed today that it completed the signing and notarization of the investment contract for the Taipei Main Station Building ROT case on July 3 and will take over the North Station mall on July 25. According to the contract, the renovation and reconstruction will be carried out in phases and zones, with a maximum period of 2 years and 8 months from the date of asset handover.

Taiwan Railways Administration conducted a tender for the Taipei Main Station Mall ROT (Renovation, Operation, Transfer) case. In April this year, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi was announced as the highest-ranked applicant, with Breeze Center as the second-highest. Breeze Center disagreed with the bidding results and filed an application with the court to suspend the execution until the administrative remedy procedure is finalized. However, the Taipei High Administrative Court ruled to dismiss the application on July 3, and Taiwan Railways stated that it respects the court's decision.

Shin Kong Mitsukoshi stated today that it completed the signing and notarization of the investment contract for the Taipei Main Station Building ROT case on July 3.

According to the contract, as the Taipei Main Station Mall case is a public station ROT case, it requires phased and zoned renovation and reconstruction according to the bidding regulations, while ensuring uninterrupted operations, passenger flow, public safety, and relevant legal procedures. Therefore, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi will adopt a phased and zoned construction approach, allowing renovations to proceed concurrently with the station's daily operations, so that the public can see updated results at different stages.

According to the contract, from the date of asset handover, the total period for renovation and reconstruction shall not exceed 2 years and 8 months.
