(CNA Taipei, July 8) Multiple areas in China's Hubei Province have recently experienced heavy rainfall and thunderstorms with strong winds, and tornadoes in some localized areas, causing severe losses of life and property. The China National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) has reportedly urgently allocated 50 million yuan (approximately 235 million New Taiwan Dollars) for post-disaster reconstruction.

According to comprehensive reports from official media such as CCTV News, the China National Disaster Reduction Committee activated national disaster relief emergency measures on July 7. Based on the national emergency plan for natural disaster relief and the disaster losses in Hubei Province, the NDRC urgently arranged 50 million yuan in central budget investment to support Hubei Province in its post-disaster emergency recovery from wind and hail disasters. The funds will focus on the emergency recovery and reconstruction of damaged infrastructure such as roads and public service facilities like schools in the disaster areas, to promote the prompt restoration of normal production and living order.

Areas in Hubei Province including Huangshi, Huanggang, Ezhou, and Xianning experienced severe thunderstorms and strong winds from July 6 to 7, with maximum wind speeds reaching level 13, and tornadoes appearing in some regions.

As of noon on July 7, the aforementioned areas reported 11 deaths, 1 person missing, and 331 injuries. 14,600 people were affected, 246 were evacuated and resettled, and nearly 4,900 houses were damaged or collapsed. (Editor: Zhou Huiying / Qiu Guoqiang) 1150707
