(CNA, reporter Wu Rui-chi, Taoyuan, August 8) In response to the continuous approach of Typhoon Bavi, Taoyuan Metro Corporation announced today that it has completed its typhoon preparedness measures. The Airport MRT is currently operating normally according to its schedule and will continue to monitor the typhoon's movements, adjusting train frequencies or suspending operations based on wind speed and actual conditions to ensure passenger and operational safety.
Taoyuan Metro Corporation issued a press release this afternoon stating that it completed preparations for depots, stations, and parking lots on August 3rd in accordance with standard operating procedures for typhoon and flood prevention. All flood prevention facilities, such as station floodgates and pumping equipment, have been thoroughly inspected, and station patrols have been strengthened. Additionally, the annual inspection and testing of waterproof compartment gates in tunnels were completed before the flood season, confirming that all equipment is operating normally.
Taoyuan MRT stated that during the typhoon period, operational modes will be adjusted based on the announcements of suspension of work and classes by the Taoyuan City, New Taipei City, and Taipei City governments. During the typhoon's impact, operations will be adjusted according to the "Passenger Transport Regulations" and "Operational Procedures," with reduced speeds implemented based on wind speed conditions and standards. Furthermore, express trains will be changed to stop at every station, will not carry passengers after reaching the terminal, and pre-check-in baggage services will be temporarily suspended. Commuter trains will maintain a 15-minute frequency. If the wind speed reaches a certain standard, the system will suspend operations.
Taoyuan MRT stated that the latest operational information during the typhoon period will be announced in advance on its official website, official Facebook page, and the "i搭桃捷" App, depending on the typhoon's movements. Passengers can check at any time. For operational inquiries, please call the customer service hotline (03) 286-8789 daily from 6:00 AM to 12:00 AM. (Editor: Huang Ming-hsi) 1150708
